I owned a Kadett of that body style (first car actually), 1.6, 5M, convertible. Fun little car.
I've also test drove a handful of GLHS' trying to find a suitable one to DD. Never did find one.

The C20XE (GSi) only had a Coscast (Cosworth) head from '87-'91 and from '95 again. In between was a Kolbenschmidt manufactured, troublesome head mounted. Avoid those and you're good.
